Product FAQs
Care and Usage
Why does my plug look deformed/melted?
A deformed/melted plug usually doesn't indicate a problem with the heater itself, but a problem with the outlet or a bent plug. You should discontinue use immediately and contact a qualified electrician to inspect the outlet before any further use.
Can I place my heater against a wall?
Most heaters should not be placed directly against walls because the air intake will be blocked. However, some heaters are designed with the air intake in front and may be placed against the wall. Check your user manual for details regarding the correct placement of your specific model.
How do I clean my heater?
Always unplug the heater before cleaning and allow the heater to cool down.
- Clean the unit with a soft cloth moistened with a mild soap solution.
- NEVER use abrasive or flammable solvents to clean the unit.
- After cleaning, be sure to completely dry the unit with a cloth or towel.
- Store Heater in a cool, dry location.
- It is recommended that you store the unit in its original carton.
TIP: Over time, dust may accumulate on the front grill. This can be removed by wiping the unit with a damp cloth.
Can I use my heater in a bathroom?
Most heaters should not be used in bathrooms or in wet areas. Only heaters that are UL rated for bathroom use should be used in bathrooms.
Why is the cord on my heater getting warm?
All of our heaters operate at around 1500 watts. This amount of electricity may cause the cord to become warm - this is normal. You should be able to put your hand around the cord and feel that it is warm to the touch, but it should not be too hot to hold. If the cord is excessively hot, there may be a problem with the outlet the heater is connected to. A loose fit in the outlet will cause the plug to overheat, as is stated in all Sunbeam® Heater user manuals. If heater cord becomes too hot to touch, discontinue use immediately and contact a qualified electrician to inspect the outlet before any further use.
Can I use a heater if I use bottled oxygen?
Heaters contain hot and arching or sparking parts inside. This is normal, however, we suggest that you check with the supplier of the oxygen equipment to advise if it may be used near the heater.
Can I use an extension cord with my heater?
No, never use with an extension cord or relocatable power tap (outlet/power strip) with your heater. Always plug heater directly into a wall outlet/receptacle. Do not plug any other electrical devices into the same outlet/receptacle as your heater.
