Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy with my Sunbeam Mixmaster I really love my beautiful shiny Sunbeam Mixmaster. Works awesome and everything I make usually turns out great unless I mess up Lol. I sold my Kitchenaid because it was too heavy bulky and awkward. From time to time you have to scrape the bowl down during mixing but I had to do the same with the Kitchenaid. If you know what your doing the Sunbeam Mixmaster works excellent !!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy this. I have an old sunbeam over 30 years old which I love . I bought the Mixmaster Stand Mixer to have at the condo. It is terrible . Tonight I gave up on it and handbeat my cake mixture. The slower levels are too fast and it flings the mix to the edges and doesn't mix it. I watched the egg swirl around until I gave up waiting for it to mix.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Avoid bread dough Got the Mixmaster for Christmas as my first own stand mixer. It works good for my cakes and frostings, brownies and cookies. But today while trying to make bread the motor gave out. I paid attention to the mixer the entire time to make sure the dough hooks kept moving to prevent strain on the motor. Every time I walked away from the mixer I would turn it off. But when I was just about ready to turn it out on to my board the motor stopped.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Before you throw it away… I have had this mixer for quite awhile and I was trying to mix butter and sugar together (I had not let it soften enough) and the alignment of the beaters was off. I thought the mixer was toast. One of the beaters was spinning freely. II UTubed fixes and took it apart only to discover that the mixer is fine. The small prongs on the stem of the beater had broken off. I had noticed a small pice of something in the batter and figured I had broken something off inside of the mixer. So to test my theory, I inserted the undamaged beater and it works great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A younger, weaker sibling of a once great machine Compared to the old Sunbeam MixMaster from the 40s and 50s this is a weak younger sibling. However, that said, the function is the same, it just doesn't have the durability, longevity or power the old ones did. I had a mid-1950s version that lasted until around 2012, through six family members using it -- heavily -- before it finally packed it in. I switched to a KitchenAid, which, frankly, disappointed me and I sold it to a friend. So, I ended up with this one, or one very like it -- model numbers vary slightly just depending on retailer and such. It works well, and is likely easier to use for someone who was already used to using the older style, which was much heavier, but functioned the same way. For people who have never used a stand mixer, or who have only used a KitchenAid or other fixed-bowl stand mixer, it might be something of a difficult transition. First, the beaters must be inserted in the correct slot. I note one reviewer for one model complained the beaters didn't fit in as pictured. In fact, it was user error, and anyone who knows how to do it will have realised that as soon as reading the review. The one with the nub goes to the outside of the bowl, and you cannot put in two styles together -- for example the beater and a whisk. On the old versions the mount was different, and the beaters were actually different (the inside one was squared at the head, so it would not fit the rounded edge of the bowl), so you couldn't possibly mix up the positioning -- the newer ones have done away with this simple, yet sensible, construction perk. As a result, it is now possible to mount the beaters in the wrong slot(s). Second, if the bowl isn't spinning of its own accord with the beaters properly adjusted, you need to give it a bit of coaxing. This is NOT a turn-it-on-and-leave-it machine. You have to tend to your batter while mixing it, making sure that the beaters are properly adjusted for whichever bowl (move the lever on the bottom, that repositions the turntable), and then using a spatula to scrape the sides while the mixer is beating the ingredients and the turntable is rotating the bowl. Third, and this seems to be one thing that confounds many people, this is an interactive mixer, requiring that the user actively engage in the mixing of the batter or whatever is in the bowl. The MixMaster takes the principle of hand mixing and turns it upside down, literally almost. As a result it is possible to both mix and "fold" ingredients -- folding is not something that can easily be accomplished with something like a KitchenAid. As such, one should always use this mixer with a spatula in hand, and as the bowl and beaters spin the spatula is used to loosen and shift the batter from the bottom and sides of the bowl. Done correctly you will end up with a very light batter that rises very well. On the whole, this mixer is quite satisfactory and will likely work well (presuming no defects) if it is gently handled and properly maintained. Certainly I have had no problems with mine -- the only annoying aspect being the power, which is weak compared to the old machines. So, I can no longer do double and triple batches of cookie dough at once, as the motor just won't handle it. That irritation aside (I just do it twice or however many times I need to make it), the MixMaster works as it should. When I read the user reviews that are negative, the vast majority of them scream "user error" at me, written by people who are most likely younger and/or who have never used a standard mixer rather than an orbital style one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mediocre at best! I have recently taken up the hobby of baking bread. I can't tell you how disappointed I am in how the dough hooks work....or more accurately, don't work! They combine the ingredients in the centre of the bowl only, and much of the contents end up stuck around the sides. I constantly have to scrape the sides and put the scrapings in the middle in order to get the mixer to incorporate the ingredients. What a pain! I end up doing most of it by hand, so what's the point?! I'm very disappointed, and don't recommend purchasing this product at all.

It broke down on first use. one beater quit turning and would jam against the other one. I found pieces of metal in the batter I was mixing. Service is nil. Nearest repair service is 300 km or more from where I live. The phone isn't being answered because of Covid-19, and the online request for help won't let me put in that I am not a robot, and won't let me submit. Disgusting! This is my last Sunbeam product!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing Got this for Christmas and sad to say I went back to mixing by hand. Like others said, the dry ingredients don’t get incorporated well. With bread dough, the dough climbs up the hooks and creates a lot of cleaning issues.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bowl keeps flying off I just bought this because it was on sale & I like the look & size. Tried to make pizza dough as my first test. It failed miserably. The bowl kept flying off. I followed the instructions on how to put the mixing bowl on the turntable but it wasn't on very well. It makes a lot of noise like it's going to completely fall apart when it speeds up. This was the main reason I purchased a stand mixer. Might return it and have to bit the bullet and buy a stand mixer that is made better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scraping is Not an Issue We bought this mixer four years ago, and if you ever gives up, we'll just buy another. We are amused by people who complain about scraping occasionally. You have to scrape, even with a mixer costing six times the price, so it is an unfair criticism. For those who don't mind scraping, here are some tricks: 1. Use a silicone spatula, which you can pick in a Dollar Store for two bucks. 2. The bowl naturally moves in a clockwise direction. Push it slowly counterclockwise, for better mixing 3. Use the whisk at top speed for beating eggs, change to the cake hook at lowest speed for cakes, dough hook at lowest speed for breads. This mixer has never produced a bad cake, bread, pasta dough or a flatbread. It has earned its cost many times over. Buy it, but be reasonable about your expectations.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn’t mix I received this mixer as a gift so I could multitask in the kitchen when baking, and get away from the hand mixer. It certainly doesn’t serve this purpose as you have to stand beside the mixer the whole time and constantly scrape the sides of the bowl. No matter what I’ve tried to mix ... all ingredients end up on the side of the bowl before they are even mixed. The height of the bowl is either off or the beaters are ... it just seems like a useless and poorly made product.

This time (the 3rd time) it started smelling burnt and the motor stopped. not very good quality .. we had the same model that lasted over 25 years .. not good quality !! I phoned sunbeam to get fixed .. since it is still under warranty, but they are too busy to take calls ... got someone in Asia who can't help ...waiting for a call back ..very disappointing ...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Expectations too high! A young family member was recently diagnosed with a major allergy to sesame seed. Basically every bread, bun, etc. has "a trace" in them. I had a very old Sunbeam stand mixer that I loved, but after many long years, it recently stopped working. I purchased this one to make my own bread, bun. So, so disappointed in this Sunbeam product! Dough hooks are useless. I guess my expectations were too high. Very upsetting!

This does not sit well since my wife was trying to save some money as me, her husband, has gone back to school to be a baker/pastry chef Thought Sunbeam was a good brand but i beg to question what else dies after 2 months of use.

However, the mixing bowl doesn’t spin you have to spin it yourself ( whats the point of a mixer) I ended up continuing the dough by hand. I was very disappointed by this product I thought it would be good

Tried to cream butter and sugar tonight and it was useless. My old Sunbeam never failed to perform the way it should. If I could give it no stars I would.

It throws everything to the sides and constantly have to stop, scrape and try again. I end up using my handheld. Today the darn thing threw the bowl off. It’s going in the garbage. Stupid design.

I took one star off because the paddles don't move to be very effective, requiring you to use a spatula to help it mix ingredients. But then very few mixers do this.

I got this mixer to replace it and it sucks compared to my old one. Not happy at all. Wasn’t to happy my other one crapped out just after a year either.

You continually have to scrape from the sides of the bowl. Where is the loss of effort? Not in this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap Plastic coated in steel colored paint. Shakes all over the place when on. Need second pair of hands to hold down the mixer head and hold still the stand when using dough hooks for bread. Save your money to buy a better mixer. This is cheaper and it shows.
